Who was Jean-Michel Basquiat?
Jean-Michel Basquiat first attracted attention with his graffiti with the name "SAMO" in New York. He sold sweatshirts and postcards featuring his work on his street before his painting career took off. He collaborated with Andy Warhol in the mid-1980s to showcase their work. Sadly, Basquiat died at a young age in New York on August 12, 1988.
